ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

Our dojo offers rigorous instruction in classical Okinawan Karate-Jutsu and Kobu-Jutsu, as well as the sub-arts of Tuite and Kyusho-Jutsu, in a safe, respectful and friendly environment, on a not-for-profit basis. Shihan Michael Den Tandt, Sixth Dan, has been involved in martial arts for 40 years and has trained continuously in Goju Ryu Karate since 1992. Our classes are taught by Shihan Den Tandt and Renshi John Snook, 5th Dan, who has been involved in the martial arts for more than 50 years and has trained continuously in Goju-Ryu Karate since the early 1990s. Our goal at the dojo is to help our students achieve their greatest potential. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic we trained outdoors and on Zoom. We are now back in the dojo two days a week, Thursday evening 7-8:30 pm and Saturday morning 9 am-10 am (kids) and 10 am to 11 am (adults).

Our curriculum is the Goju-Ryu classical kata and related training, including Okinawan Hojo Undo, and Kobu-Jutsu as practised and taught by Hokama Tetsuhiro Hanshi and Luis Morales Hanshi. We are members in good standing of the International Kenshi-Kai Organization led by Hokama Sensei, and Hokubei Kenshi-kai (North America Kenshi-kai), led by Morales Sensei.
